課程概述 |
As one of the foundation courses of DFLL, this course focuses on paragraph writing. It introduces the basic ideas of reading-based writing, prewriting, writing, revising, and some common modes of paragraph development, such as description and narration. Each teaching unit will take around 1.5 weeks. Most of the class time (the first two hours) will be spent on various activities designed for the teaching units, e.g. reading, watching videos, sharing and discussing, etc. The third hour (Flexible Hour) will be devoted to writing, revising, individual consultation, etc. |
課程目標 |
1. Understand basic ideas about reading-based writing, prewriting, writing, revising, and common modes of paragraph development and apply them to writing assignments.
2. Improve writing ability by doing close reading and regular writing practices, receiving and giving comments, and revising.
3. Avoid common EFL writing problems.
4. Learn how to monitor one’s own performance.
5. Be familiarized with at least one English-English dictionary (for different purposes).
